About the Documentary
What began as a way to raise awareness for a struggling music foundation in Uganda and the covid closure of the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley, a small Central NY YMCA, has turned into an unbelievable story. The emotional journey from what could have been a short children’s song, grew exponentially to include participants from 7 continents. This film showcases the story from songwriting to recording and sharing the message of hope and faith around the world has been transformational for those that have participated. Watch as a small afterschool program in Upstate, NY learns an original song, to young adults in a war-torn YMCA in Ukraine, humming along, to a blues musician in Mississippi lending his vocals to accompany a book, to hundreds of others, everyone participating in this project has been impacted in a unique way. The entire journey has been chronicled by Rick E. Lewis, a videographer from Rome, NY who served as the filmmaker for this project. Learn more about the inspiration that was drawn from the music, to the personal relationships that have been built and how one message can change countless lives around the world.

The documentary will be featured on PBS television and downloadable here! All proceeds will benefit the YMCA’s Changing Lives Financial Assistant program to ensure all children and families have access to necessary YMCA programs and services, regardless of income level. The YMCA puts Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
